Commissioning a Portrait

Commissioning a portrait should be a very enjoyable and fulfilling experience. The journey to the finished piece can be as important as the final outcome. 

With commissions I find working from photographs is easiest for both parties, although I do enjoy meeting and doing some initial sketches.  Completing the final piece from life would be great but can be challenging to arrange and it is a big ask from a sitter. I prefer to take the photos to work from myself but within reason I am happy to look at existing photographs.

I would always keep you updated with tue commission and send progress images to make sure we are both happy with the direction.

A rough guide to pricing…

Small portrait of one person (roughly 30x40) - £800

Medium portrait of one person (roughly 40x50cm) - £1500

Large portrait of one person full body (roughly 70x100cm) - £2000 

Extra figures would be possible for +10% of the price for each figure.

I can also frame the piece for you for cost price of the frame. Courier cost will depend on the size we select.

If travel to take photos is required there may be some travel expenses to fulfil too.

I would normally require 50% of the portrait cost to be paid upfront.
